In the Pirate Boat ride at the amusement park, riders swing back and forth in a pendulum-like "boat." The distance from the boat to the pivot point is 14m, and the maximum angle the boat reaches is 40º. What is the maximum speed the boat attains? What is the apparent weight of a 55 kg rider at the bottom of the arc?

You and your friends find a rope that hangs down 16m from a high tree branch right at the edge of a river. You find that you can run, grab the rope, swing out over the river, and drop into the water. You run at 2.0 m/s and grab the rope, launching yourself out over the river. How long must you hang on if you want to drop into the water at the greatest possible distance from the edge?

As we've seen, astronauts measure their mass by measuring the period of oscillation when sitting in a chair connected to a spring. The Body Mass Measurement Device on Skylab, a 1970s space station, had a spring constant of 606 N/m. The empty chair oscillated with a period of 0.852s. What is the mass of an astronaut who oscillates with a period of 2.20 s when sitting in the chair?

A building is being knocked down with a wrecking ball, which is a big metal sphere that swings on a 15-m-long cable. You are (unwisely!) standing directly beneath the point from which the wrecking ball is hung when you notice that the ball has just been released and is swinging directly toward you. How much time do you have to move out of the way?

    Sir want to ask one question To produce static electricity we need dry atmosphere or like dry hair and comb it doesn't produce in wet hair then how static electricity produce inside the cloud ehen there are water and ice present ??

    • @JonBergmann1
      @JonBergmann1 Місяць тому

      As the moist air rises it freezes and the water becomes small pieces of ice. The ice also robs the atmosphere of moisture and then we have a much dryer enironment high up in the atmosphere. So you are right - dry air makes for better lightning due to the comb principle you mention. Another fact is that the largest number of lightning strikes in Colorado - partly due to the much drier climate so then you aren't robbing the air of as much moisture.

    Picked one up on sale last month. I noticed the front of the helmet tips down onto your glasses like for me. The back is adjustable. Not very much. There are three or four slots. The strap Y connectors on each side are rather high and close to my ear lobes. It just fits. Not sure how to lower them. They only appear to be adjustable front to back.
